Leatherhead Methodist Church

Eastertide 2024

We held an Easter Crafternoon on Maundy Thursday, This was organised by Joycey, and he was supported by a group of adult helpers. The massive group of children were rewarded with Easter eggs donated generously by the Nuffield Health organisation.

On Good Friday morning our church was prepared  for a reflective service at 9am. This was led by Rev Dan and enabled a time of readings and prayers to help us to think about Jesus's sacrifice on the cross.
At 10:00am on Good Friday morning we joined with other Christians at The Hub, so that we could hold a Walk of Witness through the town. This was very well supported by a large crowd that walked the route together, sharing readings from the Easter story, and prayers at each stopping place.

Below is the crowd assembled at bottom of the High Street as the Easter story is told, before we continued to Parish Church as we followed our route.

Easter Sunday is the culmination of our Easter experience. We had an all-age worship service with contributions from both young people and adults in our congregation. Rev Jan Hofmeyr returned from his retirement and preached again to us.

During the service a cross was decorated with flowers and then placed outside the church door, so that all could see that we had been celebrating our risen Lord.
